Interconnection queue data for seven US grid operators

FieldProspects combines the planned projects of seven US grid operators, ERCOT, PJM, MISO, CAISO, NYISO, ISO-NE and SPP, into one table. Together they hold 7,491 planned units totaling 1,470.8 GW. ERCOT is the largest, with 2,359 units and 532.2 GW. Figures are as of October 2026.

What the combined queue table contains

Each of the seven grid operators publishes its own queue. The queue table puts their planned projects on one footing, so ERCOT and MISO can be compared unit for unit. Of the 7,491 planned units, 5,726 come from the operators' own queue extracts and 1,765 come from the planned generator list in EIA Form EIA-860M that falls inside the same grid.

Rows carry a planned status only. They do not carry a study stage, so the table cannot say where in an operator's process a project stands. What it does carry is capacity, technology, state, expected in-service year and, where the source gives one, a developer. That last field varies widely by grid: NYISO attributes a developer to 92.8% of its planned units and MISO to 32.8%.

A unit is a generating unit, not a plant, and a project that is split across units or phases can appear more than once. This page publishes totals only. No project names, dates of individual requests or coordinates appear here.

Planned capacity in each grid operator queue

Planned units by grid operator, largest capacity first
Grid operatorPlanned unitsPlanned capacityUnits from the queue extractWith a developer
ERCOT 2,359 532.2 GW 1,835 70.7%
MISO 1,684 301.4 GW 1,357 32.8%
PJM 1,492 260.3 GW 1,109 36%
CAISO 780 186.2 GW 562 42.2%
SPP 669 129.4 GW 559 42.9%
NYISO 376 44.4 GW 238 92.8%
ISO-NE 131 16.9 GW 66 71%

Units not in the queue extract come from EIA-860M. The seven grids hold 7,491 of the database's planned units.

What the seven queues are made of

Planned units in the seven grids by technology

Solar 3,221 534.1 GW 36.3%
Battery Storage 2,321 414.9 GW 28.2%
Natural Gas 748 259.3 GW 17.6%
Wind 599 154 GW 10.5%
Solar + Storage (Hybrid) 263 46.1 GW 3.1%
Nuclear 19 28.7 GW 2%

When queue capacity is expected to be in service

Planned units in the seven grids by expected in-service year
Expected yearUnitsCapacityShare of capacity
2026 1,126 140.8 GW 9.6%
2027 1,479 242.6 GW 16.5%
2028 1,560 337 GW 22.9%
2029 992 234.2 GW 15.9%
2030 624 162.3 GW 11%
2031 190 63.8 GW 4.3%
2032 and later 88 50.2 GW 3.4%
Year before 2026, still listed as planned 1,079 161.9 GW 11%
No expected year listed 353 78.1 GW 5.3%

The year is the expectation given by the source for each unit, not a commitment.

What is an interconnection queue?

An interconnection queue is the list a grid operator keeps of the generation and storage projects that have asked to connect to its transmission system.

What approved accounts can do with the queue

Approved accounts search the full queue across all grids, filter by state, grid, developer, capacity, county and year, sort by request date and export the filtered result. The seven-day trial covers all five tables and allows an export of up to 250 rows.
