This ranking covers only data centers that name a developer: 3,592 of 3,626 (99.1%). Canceled data centers are left out. Capacity counts only data centers that state one, so a low total can mean a company states less.
| Status | Data centers | Share of data centers |
|---|---|---|
| Planned | 1,807 | 49.8% |
| Operating | 1,319 | 36.4% |
| Under Construction | 477 | 13.2% |
What the ranking covers
The database holds 3,671 data center records. 45 are canceled and are left out, which leaves 3,626. Of those, 1,807 are planned, 477 are under construction and 1,319 are operating, and 23 have no status stated. The ranking therefore mixes announced, in-progress and running sites.
A developer name is recorded on 3,592 of them (99.1%), so the table covers nearly the whole list. Capacity is thinner: 3,130 data centers state one (86.3%), adding up to 453.5 GW. The last column of the table shows how many data centers each company states a capacity for.
The top five companies are named on 1,622 of the 3,592 named data centers (45.2%) and hold 131.3 GW of the 453.5 GW stated (29%). 468 distinct names appear in all, and the table shows the top 15.

What is a data center developer?
A data center developer is the company named in a data center record as the one building it. The name is the developer field as published in the source record, so it can be a cloud provider, a colocation company or a builder. Spelling variants and legal suffixes are merged into one company.
